A poem to a an old love

Amid the dusk of night, and the bliss of quiet, we met once again. Though we each had found other paths, they soon led to you. I was at my wits end and determined that I would blaze a new way. Till this light turned to darkness. I found my self in a tormented place tired of the same. I left for better grounds where I thought my dreams might live. When I saw you I turned to run, familiar places often mean pain. Broken and touched I never made it to the door. I was hooked once more. We talked and connected , through pains experience laughter’s glow it guided us to a balance of peace. The birth pains were hellions and long then came the anticipation. Separation was the gift. I longed to see you and knew that I was yours. Work there was and needed to be done, yes there was hurt and no understanding, but sometimes it is the things unseen that create a bond. Watching a heart in confusion, yet still seeking what is right for all. Knowing a past and it’s reasons I had to wait. Now my dear there you are, brown eyes ablaze, your smile that lifts my heart, even it’s heaviness can’t resist. I know this day you are about your business, I trust so I must wait. If it is the fruit that I desire it must ripen, and that which reaches its time upon the tree is the best of all.
