Eighteen Again
The television for company on a night of grueling paperwork
When a voice rips into my soul, my head flies up with a jerk
Bygone feelings flow as I turn and stare at my TV screen
Transfixed, I began to smile, for once again I am eighteen
A love from over thirty years past, smiling, staring back at me
His voice reverberating in my brain, bringing me back to reality
Grabbing for the remote, I hit ‘record’ just in the nick of time
As the sweet memories bubble, surface, and arouse my very mind
Did he ever know what he meant to me before I walked away?
Our lives took different paths before my heart ever had its say
My first taste of youthful love; discovery, passion, and freedom
Now emotions sweeping over me causing me to take action
My trusted computer and Google quickly brings me up to speed
Married, two grown children, living just a few miles from me
Nostalgia wraps my heart in longing and overwhelms my brain
But with my lovely memories, a fantasy he shall remain
Newfie Hugs, Rose
My memory go with crutches, I doub that any voice now can pull me back, maybe Cheops quarreling one about his damn pyramid again could.

Oh, my, that first love is soooo special and its memories - whew! Reliving the past can certainly jolt the heart, and get that pitter, patter going into over-drive.
I love this poem and you.
