Life’s Worthwhile
Have you ever noticed when we dream
We are the hero in every scene
The woman so beautiful men stop and stare
Or the upcoming artist with just the right flair
Then to awaken and reality sucks
The sink is plugged and the dog has bugs
The laundry sits piled one more day
Ice cream on the counter, left out yesterday
I tackle today with a sullen mood
Plunging the sink, trying not to brood
The laundry gets washed but I hate to fold
As my list gets longer, I’m feeling old
The phone rings, greetings from my son
Idle chit-chat ends with “I love you, Mom”
I may not be a hero but my life’s worthwhile
Wrestling the dog to the tub, I have to smile
Thank you for the smile today, and continued success.

This is a wonderful piece of Americana and life as we know it for a Mother and/or Father. Dreams vs Reality. This poem brings a smile to my lips and an audible chuckle.
You are a hero to many, and that most certainly includes me!
I love you. Kathy
