Wandering Heart, Journey into Winter
I’ve wintered alone, before
mostly not by choice
this time is no different
I must be gone
my fire wood is
dwindling, getting scarce
Time to move on
my heart is restless
the pass remains open
The distant mountains
Calling
My woods,
the leaves are falling
my wounds have about healed
As much to be expected
Time to be moving on
not waiting for a divine
revelation
so my belly is
full
my coffee aplenty
Load up the pack and make for the
sunset
To walk with my companions
the elk and the deer
under moon light
Madness
Howl at the moon
To my brother the
wolf
Be guided by overhead wings
Red-tailed hawk to
descend
alight on my shoulder
I shall savor the
moment
Crispness of the starry
night solitude
Breath of frost
Music of the wind
past mirrored lakes
quiet stillness
To marvel in the
Wonder
Onward I will travel
a sound I will
follow
from somewhere deep in my
heart
I listen to the echo’s
leading me back
home
to somewhere I must
belong

belong" Such wistfulness I hear in these words.. lovely!
