Lone Buffalo

I’ve been watching you
from a distance
dance
that slow lumbering
waltz
so, massively great
gracefully , placing your
 every step

In this slow tempo
sun ……setting on the
horizon
you and me in our own, duo
sharing the world
together

Rolling with the river
on this rocky shore
banking to right ….then to the left
my prayers to you, fellow
one of the last
of the lone
Buffalo

The herd is somewhere
else
 in, this valley, so great
the sky so blue
time has slowed
shifted, to a different era
we cut our own trails
you........and me
in this slow motion
tempo

Branches snapping, dust flying
whirling, yet when you pause
you seem to disappear
another dark shadow
till you start drifting
along

One of the last
lone buffalo..

I continue to lose myself in the way you write
what you write. A talent to envy. -gene.

Powerful imagery, my friend, and very soon, there won't be any wild buffalo left. We seem to have a modern day penchant for destroying all of our national treasures these days.

Such strong image...the mind automatically jumps to all sorts of symbolic triggers and the the figure of one who stands alone, different and unique from the crowd...well done Stan.
