What Lies Beyond

I saw a girl last night

She was very pretty
the way her skirt
kissed the curves of
her youth
she flashed me a
smile
she was very pretty

I awoke
surrounded by mountain mist
enveloped in a cloudy dreariness
what lies beyond
I do not care
my vision is impaired
limited to earthly bounds
thunder and crashing echo’s through the valley
let the rain pour
what lies beyond
I do not care
limited in scope
today I am
settled
in front of the fire
a cup of coffee
is my friend
today

Earthly attraction with a guilty feeling... then silence (censorship?) and waking up to sadness and loneliness. This is what I feel when I read your poem.

Future sounds impossible, action limited... helpless, but hopefully tomorrow is another day.

Very effective.

. .. .a pang of wistfulness; a gentle wisp of h.air brushed aside. .little things that remind you of both beauty and time, and how simple and fleeting each is. . ..
and i love the image of warmth and serenity that IS you simply.. .despite the flood of swiftly tilting worlds and spaces and faces and bygones. ..
silent and still and solid, this is. ..
