Kid on a Bike

Eyes so wide
Big and round
Racing past the
front of me
Going somewhere
fast

How did I catch
Your eye
That gaze, as our eyes
met
Locked one on the other
Through the veil of glass and glare
tears
Riding high
on the seat

Was it
the flashy car
Red Roadster, playing
music
or was it something
More

You turned toward me, and
let me see
a boy
with an old man’s
face
my only though, an aware[ness
be not afraid

This reminds me of the cycle of life thinking back to when you were a young boy,, into the future of an old man,, to race through life with no fear,,,or regrets. (I could be totally wrong??)

like a reverse looking glass, seeing yourself of yester in someone else's glance...and just who was looking at whom? and what were you both remembering? knwoing? seeing?
. ..that same colour red perhaps?
"cartwheels turn to carwheels through the town" [a little joni mitchell never hurt anyone]
something in each of us that draws us all; together.
a beautiful cognizant reflective piece of you
makes me miss the words already :{

Stan,

A connectedness (that's not a word, but makes sense LOL) between boy on bike, Poet, and now me: joined by verse. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Truly profound. It gives this reader much to contemplate - awareness to not be afraid of ...

God bless you. Kathy
