Black Crow Flying
Black crow flying
cross
barren, coffee sky
Flapping broken, arms, like leaves
falling
tumbling, down
naked trees buds
breaking
on river
bottom
Startled
coyotes barking
empty early warnings
a morning, passing
funeral procession
dead squirrel
lying
sleeping in the roadway
clouds of pungent incense, white
smoke rising
Music lifting heavenward
in the distant hills chain saw singing
while
an old man lights his
whiskey still
some where in
those long ago
Kentucky hills

I really enjoyed your verses as I was takin in a memory of mine to the farm of these 2 baby crows I nurtured as their parent was shot by a neighbor boy.
And the coyotes I fed for my uncle (till I set them free)
What a treat to read this and feel that as your words spoke!
