Read and weep oh comforts sheep.
It takes brutality, Greed, and Godlessness,
A sweet live creature to undress,
It takes someone called a human,
A so called being, alien, not a true man,
It takes someone that took our form,
However, doesn’t meet the basic norm,
It takes someone who is on payola,
Paid by an animal killing mafia,
It takes people that live nearby,
Know what is what, but close their eye,
It takes a public that doesn’t care,
With such a folk their vote do share,
It takes public schools and teachers,
Install some moral features,
It takes people, millions that will buy,
Just shrug their conscience with a sigh,
It takes macho men in suits and money,
And stupid blonds who they call honey,
It takes people that are free,
In supposed democracy,
To vote their conscience if they care,
Knowing in that ghastly crime they share,
It takes millions of cowards that not stand up
Who’ll pass that bitter cup?
Cowards in the churches pew,
Holier than I and you,
It takes preachers, priests, Imam and Rabi,
Morals teach, but cannot see,
It takes millions, that for their soul would spend,
A dollar each for this to end,
It takes efforts of the state,
To make this cruelty abate,
It takes gumshoes and the sort,
To find these places, make it sport,
It takes governors and mayors,
To kick this crime upstairs,
It takes legislators, the public represent,
Create new laws, all these crimes suspend,
It takes you, the part you play, to make it so,
Or are you too, an alien, called Mr. Low,
It takes someone who can read and write,
Votes in many ways, such a cruelty to spite,
It takes “You”, you know that finger,
This deeply in your mind should linger,
No uniform you need, that war to fight,
However, moral courage ain’t that right.

If we only had millions of still caring souls among our ranks, we could easily stop this. But each sad year now, we seem to have less and less people who still care at all about any of the truly atrocious and abysmal animal cruelties going on all around us.
The horrendous Canadian baby seal slaughter goes on and on; the puppy mills all across North America flourish; our pets are discarded and tossed out like garbage; our oceans and forests are being ravaged; and more and more wildlife is on the brink of extinction each and every day now; and the vast majority of human beings living today - just look the other way.
Very powerful words over a horrific practice. I cannot understand why people treat animals this way. The almighty dollar is the devil, that allows this awful thing. We have to do something. But, what?
