The trek.
Was my mind playing a trick?
Have I wandered away this far?
I must be near the end,
There, where all mirages mend,
The towers of Babylon my shadow swallowed,
Moreover, now the desert sands,
Alone, golden riches, hanging gardens,
My keys left at the walls for pardon,
It’s gates ajar, now closing fast,
To fast they close for my return,
Far I have wandered, naked but a rag,
Bare feet and hardened soles,
No riches do me carry, but the soul,
Moving on, I will not tarry,
I cannot if I would,
Memory stones I place, I could,
The sands of time around me swirl,
Long gone, are the minarets of gold,
All the wise men’s plea,
Not believe, just what you see,
There among the shifting dunes,
Forlorn among the shifting sands,
Hoping still, life’s nectar to return,
For a cool oasis I do yearn,
Far away the caravans of trade,
The Bedouin warrior’s horses,
My weakened cries, swallowed from far,
Silent cries my soul not mar,
Still forever there it shines,
My shadow slimmer now,
Moreover, slimmer by the day,
No more I have to say,
Only memory stones, my humble feet,
Tracks for a moment leave,
Soon be covered, by sands of time,
They will barely leave a sign,
Blisters leave a burdened soul,
The heat of day will turn to night,
The towers far away in Babylon,
For some time will stay, and then they’re gone,
From night to day the hourglass will turn,
The immensity of time will yearn,
I feel the gates that rush the sand,
It’s pulling me along, God turned its hand,
The gates of time, an eye, a needle,
Almost nothingness that passes through,
I was dispersed of all I had,
Nor was there need of being sad,
Spirit now, engulfed in timeless space,
No weight of burdens unbecoming,
Larger now I was and whole,
I travel with my soul.

The utterly feeling of being left outside, alone, asking himself if all was worth the disappointment.
The poem says a lot between lines.
Georg
Almost nothingness that passes through
And all we take with us is our soul - most powerful, my friend.
and you travel it well, pleasing Creator
and inspiring all who read you! Kudo's Jasmin!
