I know the path, and it is a long road, full of thorns, when I meet someone else with calloused feet, I know of his suffering, and can relate, and if a caring heart comes along with it, the experience is much multiplied, and if acted upon, and most rewarding. I feel the same way about all, not just the human species, even those that labour with their beak, just for a morsel of food.

Too poor to care,
Too tired and downtrodden,
Is this your daily fare?
From those that care forgotten,

But those that care,
Are also poor, tired and forgotten,
Most of them at least,
Most of them that path have trodden,

That path I travelled often,
But on my way I knew,
My help your path would soften,
Cause, I knew it too,

Our common plight,
Our common flight,
When our wings grew tired,
Compassion was the light,

Compassion comes from knowing,
And feelings of the heart,
And reaches deeper than ones own,
Of caring makes an art,

All that suffer, all, are one of us,
It moulds the a caring bud,
A common weave of cloth,
Be it a flower, bird, or mutt.©

We often can be poor in "coins", but the ones I pity the most are those who are poor within their heart! The latter you will never be, J.H. What a caring poem, dear friend!

Hi Jasmin, Luther Standing Bear said "He loved the earth and all things of the earth.. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard, he knew the lack of respect for growing, living things soon led to the lack of respect for humans too." You are man of intellect and intuition, my friend.

In Spirit,
Bear

Shouldn't the poor be called poor because the lack of material things, but for the lack of spiritual guidance and fortitude. I have seen men in rags happily smiling and rich men crying of despondence.

Jasmin,
I can see clearly the great empathetic heart that is yours, you identify with the suffering of the underdogs of the world and I admire and praise you for it.

I sometimes think I am poor, but when I see people from other countries, some of the African countries to be sure, & I look at my world and realize that I am so much better off than I sometimes think...e

Something about doing without, maybe being hungry when you can't get food, raises your awareness level, doesn't it, Jasmin? Seems like the more aware you are, the more charged with responsibility you are, and I see you that way. Glad you rode through Henry's dream a ways with me. It would be wrong not to point out there's something wrong with it---right? By the way, I know my ancestry, I'm a human mutt--English x German x Scottish x French-Belgian--no wonder I'm always struggling with myself. Keep on being generous, my friend....Jerry
