Belfast boys dilema

Ma i'm really feeling hungry now
Can I have a bite to eat?
Well go and take some bread and jam
And wipe your mucky feet

Ma can i have a sixpence?
Or a thrupence if you please?
No I don't have any money son
Do you think it grows on trees?

Would me Da give me some money Ma?
Where is he anyway?
Well just walk down to the corner pub
And he'll not be far away

Why does Da drink so much Ma?
I just don't understann!!!
You will when you grow up son
He's just a typical man

Why does he leave you every night?
Is that the way it goes?
I don't wish to talk about him son
Now go and wipe your nose

Well I will never leave you Ma
I'll work for you till I drop
Oh my darlin lovely helpful son
Here's a sixpence for the shop
