My wife and I went to Butlins to stay
Heard  some music played live, blew my mind away
This guy came on stage with his sideburns and beard
Played the best live music I ever heard

Roger Humphries was his name and his group were supreme
They played their music on the country scene
Bite the Bullet and he gave 100 percent
It was the best damn money that I ever spent

Now I heard Roger playing for the next few years
But Butlins got took over and they disappeared
It saddens me now that those days are gone
But the legacy of Roger Humphries lives on

I´ve spoken to Roger and I´ll tell you now
No Heirs and graces Just a decent guy
Never made it real big time, the way he should
I just don´t understand that, cause´he was that good

On the top of my pile sits my favourite cd
If you heard it played, I think you´d agree
So I hope Rogers well and I´ll wish him good cheer
That good fortune may follow with each passing year
