Guilty

The lawyers come forth before the Judge
The media circus there to indulge
His Honor peers down from his mighty throne
Making his authorative presence known.
Cases presented, both prepped they begin.
Taking to judgement a murderous sin.
Testifiers for and against the accused man,
one by one they're lead to the witness stand.
High pitched drama, fit for a frenzied kill
His chances of acquittal, next to nil.
"Redeem my soul!" proves not guilty's a must.
A hypocrit screams, "ashes to ashes and dust to dust!"
The verdict is read, with solemn delivery
The guilt of the accused, in you, in me.
Sentenced to death with "I hope he learns."
The blood of condemnation burns.

Know what this makes me think of? The devil, who is called the Accuser in the Bible, hurling accusations at me, pointing out every sin and weighing me down with condemnation and my guilt. I squirm before his piercing words and hang my head in defeat and self-hatred.

BUT GOD---
Thank God, the blood of Jesus Christ my Savior, covers my sin and sets me free, and I am declared not guilty before my God!
