Journey of a Soul

Now he faces East

awakening to morning sunlight

the air is pure and free of death

he walks without fear

Now he feels blessed

no grief clings to him

everything that has been lost

always seems near

Now he feels a presence

within himself of peace

where hope becomes faith

as wishes are not right now

Now he understands

silently the small losses appear

as the shadow of death is near

being grateful for what life will allow

Now he feels humble

realizing the journey of mother earth

is a gift fragile and precious

he walks without fear

Now he faces West

sitting in awe as the sun sets

all the glory of this creation

reminds him of his humanity

Now he gives gratitude

without any expectations he is free

accepting that which is he

a soul without vanity

Now the dusk approaches

as the sun is setting

the journey begins and ends

life and death are one

Now he has faith

which love and forgiveness

has freely given

the journey never done

Now he loves and forgives

unconditionally and eternally

praying for all living beings

he walks without fear

Dreams can be so much more beauiful and wonderful than reality. There are times that we would love to stay in the dream. Maybe that's why we write poetry and books. I love the way you expressed this special feeling.

We are creatures who need each other so desperately
yet hurt each other continuously. This poem brings
this out, in such bittersweet longing. Beautifully
written Dale!
