Book of Dreams

The phantoms rode nightmares

across the night

fiery steeds

snorting balls of fire

They laughed malevolently

speaking in riddles

They carried a book of dreams

it fills my head

I speak in riddles

trying them on for size

They speak to me

dreamily

They ride alongside

my mind in the sky

I breathe these things

these riddles, these dreams

They flash inside of me

in black and white,

no colors in this dream

without any light,

they remain unread

They speak in circles

trying to see if they’ll fly

These nightmares of fury

These phantoms of the night

haunting, lurking the shadows

They speak to me

riding their nightmares

They laugh inside my head

speaking in riddles

These phantoms of time

carry this book of dreams

Well Dale, this is right up my alley. Also it seems as of late the theme of the poets that I read (including me) is dreams. I feel a stirring in the air.
