Shades of Blue

I'm a different shade of blue
I'm a man of many hues

It shows in all I do
the doubt rises up
I can't stand myself
and tears flow

I'm a different shade of blue
I just can't be true

I always think I don't fit
like a square peg in a round hole
I wonder if I am poetic
because I seem to write in circles
like a buzzard circling the dead

I'm a different shade of blue
wandering, knowing I'm through

I cry out of self pity
and make a mockery of love
I never did fit in
I was always a screwup

I'm just a different shade of blue

Dale--nicely written piece. And a shade of blue is cool and comforting also.

The world would truly be far too boring if we were all round pegs fitting exactly the same way into round holes. Viva Le Difference!

CJ,

'Tis said that poets are one in one hundred million.
This makes you part of an elite group.

The best way to shake the blues
is to write it down as you've done here
so well in your own unique style.

Blessings,
Joseph

Dear Dale,
Do you remember how I first found you? I hope you do when you have moments like this. You stood out among a poetry group contributed to by so many. You're so greatly talented and you flow like few others. Even this (this sad write) is so well written. If you're blue, remember the sky is also blue...and that is your limit.
Write on dear friend...

Hi Dale,

I can relate! I have learned to accept that I
am an "other" when I am amongst most. lol!
What can we do? At this point in the game,
I am actually enjoying being an other!

A touching, heartfelt write. The rhyme somehow adds both a sense of need and playfulness at the same time. Very creative.
