Free Cloud Flying

We were free cloud flying,
high plains drifting

The clouds float above us
We ride to fly
and fly to be

We were free cloud flying,
freeway fades into the horizon
Vertigo is merely a ruse

The distance was far
yet we travel with speed

Tetons are covered with rain,
it falls like the clouds
down, down unto the ground

Our tears are homeward bound
as we leave the beauty behind us
We see only sand and wind

High plains desert
is greeting us with glee

We were free cloud flying,
floating towards another plane
We feel only the loss

The loss of tears like rain
turning into a dry wind

Storm cloud flying,
lightning flashes ahead
thunder warns of reality

We were freeway driving
Vertigo was just a ruse

It’s only the desert truths
that scare the uninitiated,
that scar the broken hearted

One day the sand will blow
covering us with dust

We will free cloud fly

great poem..a vertiginous feeling of falling ,falling and coming back up to the horizon..a bit like in the cockpit a glider..stalling and falling.. threatened by thermals.. beautifully written. anne.

Wow. I really like your style of writing. Very creative. I got into this poem. It was rythmic and flowing, almost like a song. Write a beat and I'll SING that shit. Hah.. Thumbs up, brutha.
