Sun Walker

The sun walker casts
his shadow upon the moon
and a storm rider approaches
wearing spurs of lightning
his voice like thunder
his lasso made of stars

They winked at Venus
knowing she was the walkers lover

The moon called to the sun
at twilight they parted
and the shadow grew longer

You could hear the sun walker
his feet ablaze, calling out
let the rain come down
and the lake is full of rises
reflecting the orange sunset

The storm rider came whistling
like the wind, calling out to Venus
The sun walkers love smiled at her
and the moon turned silver

The storm rider booms as he tosses
his lasso to rope midnights love

The sun walker casts his shadow
over love and passion, he captures
Venus’s heart with his fire

The storm carries the rider away
lightning flashes and thunder rumbles

The sun walker emblazons the sun
for the love of Venus
She colors him heavenly

A shadow is cast over the moon
The storm is a mere sprinkle

Goodness me! What an epic imagination, Dale - like something out of Greek mythology. It's simply jaw-droppingly stunning and I LOVE it - keeping for sure. I need to read and re-read it to get the nouances (yes, I am a bit slow!) but I simply adore the notion of all this celestial intrigue and fascination. Got me hooked anyways. You have a special gifting which ALWAYS stikes me when I visit your page: you are so cinematic - I probably keep sayin it - but have you worked in filming or whatever? And everything I imagine coming with a deep, oily southern drawl (sorry for my very-English stereotyping - especially if it's offensively wrong!), wide open roads and vast skies and empty spaces. Perhaps that's why your writing has such depth, breadth and scope. You have an artist's and a film director's eye. Is it in your blood?! TY for this wonderment. LOL Kate xx
