Oooo - just reading Annie Proulx's Bad Dirt short story collection at the moment, Dale, and of course this resonates: the modernity, the quirkiness but deeply rooted in unique "otherness" of the "law unto themselves" wide-open landscapes that you describe. As ever, you write with piquant and visual description and with just the right telling detail. Your powers of observation and notation are immense. TY Kate xx

Beautiful country is Wyoming, I got my forst taste of it when I became stationed at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. I think it's called something else now and they have probably torn down all thwe old horse stables that they converted into barracks for us. I swear we thought we could still smell those darn horses. Also Wyoming brings a smile to mmy face because that is where I met Dorothey Connone. Happy memories. Oh. Forget. Loved the poem.
