Campfire Dreams

We dream of purple mountains
snow tipped and majestic
A painted desert in the distance
We hear the horses
splashing through the river
Its still waters at the end of a day
We recall the rivers journey
in the campfires light
Visions of ancients color our sight
and tell us tales of grand splendor
We look into the burning fire
and see the fellowship of others
We feel their presence in our midst
and its sense of peace in fellowship
The stories of long ago radiate
in the fire as we feel its glow
We recall our dreams
and the horses they rode
splashing the waters on a trail
through time portals
We feel their powers
these warriors of our native earth
We become lost in these flames
and we feel a great knowledge
is passed onto us

Reading CAMPFIRE DREAMS was like sitting in the middle of a holographic projection and watching awestruck as the highly visual images unfolded. The deep and honored sense of spirituality flows straight off the page into the soul and makes a truly powerful reading experience. Thank you for sharing it.

YEEEEEEEssssss!!!!!! This is soooo it, Dale! Anyone who has sat round a campfire in wild space and at peace with all around will know EXACTLY what you describe here. And it is the heart of the flame that draws it out as well as together, don't you think?! So mellow and yet so dense with image and energy. Another brilliant write which has rich morsels within it as well as being epicurean. Like others below, am keeping to savour the taste and smell of this and the links with past and on into the future for always. TY - just great! :)) Kate xx

The repitition of certain elements in this poem like fire, water, horses, is very effective. The campfire being the guiding flame into a past that bind us. I like this -- have read it several times and will read it again, I know.

Dear Poet, what a pleasure it is to sit, once more, by the ancestral fire whose circle you revive so beautifully. This is a marvelous, curved line, glowing as it follows the one drawn in "Campfire Light", and warming the spirit immersed in the hope of the next spark, so that the cycle is completed. Then, it will start again... as we find ourselves "lost" in these flames that are passed on to us, and which we pass on, incessantly.
Absolutely beautiful, thank you!

They truly do, if we allow them to, as you so obviously do, Dale.

CJ,

These Campfire Dreams can lead us
beyond ourselves when we dare to
keep our gaze fixed upon the blaze.
