Pawnee Buttes We climbed the butte handholds are the only way They’re worn and smooth how many hands have used them before As we stood looking out over the landscape We could see it’s restless like an ancient sea The sun sets in the western horizon We have a connection somehow to the Pawnee climbing up to look for game or an enemy They stand majestic as we drive away we look back like someone had been watching You feel their presence It’s the power of the plains ©Dale CJ Clark
