Blank Page

Words are blown upon the page
tattered and stained
The ink is smeared and streaked
yet I remain diseased and insane

The words won’t stop for
spilt ink

I cry tears of remorse
The blood of the heart
beating in the silent dawn
The dew is blood stained

The sunset is red
Words can’t describe it

The words are silent in the night
and only the wild ones remain
I can merely describe them
and feel their freedom too

The poem is like the tide
it rolls in and goes out again

These words are full of pain
yet I go to read them
and all I see
is a Blank Page

"The blood of the heart bleeding in the silent dawn." Y E S.
Dale, this is a keeper if I ever saw one. Says so much in
so few {if exquisitely chosen} words. T h a n k y o u !!

Each stanza is like a sharp lemon twist or the turn of a screw, Dale... think I must have a loose one, too!! I know EXACTLY what you have so evocatively painted for us here, smearing your passion and feeling upon the blank canvas in vivid colour and texture. The last three verses are particularly powerful, I think: "The words are silent in the night and only the wild ones remain"... makes me think stallions again... wonder why?? Another write that is full of fire! :)) TY Kate xx

I agree with Alexandra and Joseph below, this amazing pen describes great anguish and mental torment of the highest degree Dale !
And like Eileen Tiger Lily I concur it is perhaps your best ever write, that I have had the pleasure to read, you are an amazing poet who can maximise or minimize the cutting edge of your poems to great effect.
Just remember you are No.1, and stay strong in yourself my friend !

Sometimes the wild ones make the best poems, Dale.

Extraordinary piece, dear CJ! The unutterable immensity of pain in some of the most striking, powerfully talented imagery I have had the pleasure of imbibing. What a tangible, expressive universe, beyond that Blank Page!

Tremendous soul searching piece of work. It's all right before our eyes, yet some times we can't see it but when we do, a great poem like this one comes about.

Powerful words from the soul! Searching for your voice and feeling only a silent scream, as mere words cannot describe the pain. And a dull, heavy ache clouds your eyes. These words grip and hold us for we see ourselves and are helpless in remembering. We don't want to go here. But there we find our true selves-open and bleeding...

I read much pain in these lines, dear CJ, and I pray that this will soon cease. The blank page is the end of the story yet, somehow, I feel deep in my heart that you have much further to go. Stay strong my friend.

Love & Light,
Joseph
