Full Moon over Green Meadow
A breeze blows in my bedroom window,
whispers Sweet Dale,
take a midnight walk with me
I shrug my shoulders and laugh
I get dressed, pull on my boots,
call my dog, Come on Rusty
We start down the path
which runs through the woods
The shadows and moon beams
run across our faces
Rusty’s not afraid, his tail wagging
I light up a cigarette,
blow smoke rings into the sky,
It gets into the moons eyes
We hear the howls
Rusty howls back
We come upon a green meadow
bright as day
I see her standing there
my angel, my muse
She floats to me, laughing
Her lips tremble
as I bend to kiss her
She pushes me away
She says, Sweet Dale watch the moon
when she’s silver
in your eyes,
write what you feel
I go down to the lake front
and sit upon the sandy shore
The reflection is silver
So I write,
Oh silver reflections,
you blind me with your beauty
Oh full moon,
shining over green meadow
