Savage Jungle

Young boys went cruising up Sunset Blvd
waiting for the black night
to lurk in the shadows

Bad boys went down to Hollywood and Vine
high in the Savage Jungle
on meth and alcohol
eyes are aglow

Wolves of Los Angeles
City of Angels
City of Lost Souls

The wolves wandered the night
among the shadows
Beware oh mortal souls
the Savage Jungle is alive

Young boys cruising Hollywood and Vine
the hookers and divas & pretty boys
The Wolves prey on all

The rich in their golden masks
they hide behind
in the cafes and restaurants,
in the theaters and movie houses

Howls at the full moon
the young ones fled
Howling in capture

They headed back down to the valley
trying to escape the howling
The Wolves held their souls
no escape for them now

Howling, Howling
Howling for the lost souls
in the Savage Jungle

Angels in tears
flying high above the neon glow
They couldn't stop the Wolves
Howling in the hearts of the young boys

Your verse puts you right where the action is.

Love it!

I like this, Dale... a different topography and landscape for you... but still your deft cinematic lens in the shape of your poetic tongue and eye has given us both scintillating character sketches and a screenplay all in one. Very much enjoyed the double metaphor with both the play on jungle and the duallism of good and bad... Wonder what Ginsberg would make of this?????? :))))) xoxoxox

Yep! That just about sums it up. Good piece of work, Dale.
