I drove, contemplating
gray cloudy morning
rain sprinkling, a drizzle
neither black nor white
Into the Gray
a bleak and bleary day
todays existence
raindrops smearing
cleansing the streets
trying to cure
this death, this life
Mass of humanity
Into the Gray
crazy pathos run
no longer young
boys become men
if they live
long enough
Sidewalks & city streets
hey I’m walking here
you talking to me,
you looking at me,
into laborious silence
looking into the mirror
conflicted moralities
Into the Gray
drove long limousines
a procession not asking
where are the gates?
rusty hinges squeak
crying for life
there is no cure
Into the Gray
listen to souls whisper
under these cracked neon
lights up the street corners
leaving shadows stalking
the living
Alive to ride
another days passage
a tale better left
for those stuck inside
themselves, the wanton
to be blue
It’s onward

And yet, within the monochrome, like the sharpness of black and white photography, new images can be struck and fresh perspectives found, which would not be apparent were it not for the smudged tones inbetween. This has the well-written grey of sleeplessness to it... inescapable and debilitating. Good mood poem. TY Kate xx

Hey CJ,
One thing I've come to believe in this life is that things are not all black or white. There is a gray or middle ground which presents another path to follow. I really enjoyed this spiritually thoughtful poem.
