and usually the wolf is a powerful force.

Coyote Returns

Jack was barkin something fierce
outside a coyote howled
after the Old Profs' dream
he knew he needed some help
the wily trickster was up to no good

seems the elder also had a dream
a vision of the trickster,
he feared not

it was the witches that made him wary
a vision of the skinwalkers
who send their wolf
who follows the coyote
returning to old profs
so he got in his pickup
heading southeast

the hermit looked out the window
saw one hell of a sight
right in front of him
a wolf shape shifted into a man
the coyote sang hiding
Old prof had heard of the skinwalkers
but gave them no thought
he wasn't afraid
what could they want from him?

he saw dust rising to the west
knew a vehicle was coming
he hoped it was the elder
to explain his dream
a vision he couldn't understand

suddenly he heard
a piercing howl
the howl of a wolf
he had heard the legends
the skinwalkers practiced bad medicine
they were witches (male & female)
they celebrated evil intentions

it was known the wolf led them
his powers were many
old prof had chills up his back
a trickster could be mischievous
with pranks and mysterious ways
but the skinwalkers were evil
in their ceremonies and customs
