The Beguiled

dancing across waters
skipping stones
tossing coins
into the wishing well
guileless

there lies the bones
of a million dreams
never knowing what you'll get
therein lies the beauty of it
in the comfort of tender mercies

sitting atop the mountain
in deep contemplation
mulling over life's interpretations
dying, multitudes of death
living, oceans of dreams

counting the countless days
oh, and the distances
which separate us
looking, searching
longing for loves horizon

there are many of us searching
yet the blessings are in plain sight
they are not hidden
fear not the tricks of life
it completes a man

there and only there stands peace
happiness rests in future journeys
upon life's relentless path
suddenly the blessings are clear
our children strengthen our hearts

it reminds a man of his worth,
teaching him to go forth
truth is plain
it is no secret
open wide your eyes

therein lie the tears of joy
see the hurt man brings
worrying about pride and vanity
it washes all away with love
