 Oath of the Blues

I determine this oath, invariably

vowing to accentuate the positive

promising not to stoop to self-pity

saying that I know, now

I got to strap it on

put on a happy face

for this sad old world

I always put on my game face

for inadequacies or the lack thereof

following conscious paths

I, as always, crash into despair

hating this world

which I can't change or find a way

to just smile through the pain

I always forget to delude

to try and believe

in all these magical schemes

to escape these false realities

yet I think of you

missing you on this long day

and lonely seems silly

I know, but can't help it

lost as I am without you

trying so hard to face up

with the light shining in the window

knowing you'll be home soon

thinking of this oath I took

as the shadows lengthen

This brought to mind feelings of loneliness while waiting for my hubby to come home...and some days my kids... Funny how we can miss someone when they are just gone for a few hours. Shows me that I am really not complete without them.

What a beautiful heartfelt write of a promise made from your heart. Your inner strength will come forth when you humble yourself as you just did. Beautiful and well done. Love, Bonnie
