Red Sunset

red sunset at smoky ridge
blackened tree lined hills
watch silently
trails lost over time
overgrown by vine
undergrowth of spent leaves
fallen in hasty approach

Autumn

running now without time
no looking back
forever forgotten youth
fading now in the gloaming
criss crossed by sun rays
counted upon stubby fingers
red yellow gray
purple tinted clouded mind
watching child like
hasten cane induced stiff
rocking chair bound instead
watches and waits

Sunrise

before last twilight escapes
mind boggling induced contentment
fragmented in splendoured sight
amber lit red sky
colored lake without water
fallen now into ashes
leaving ashen memories
dried up with age
hardened by days gone by
saddened by by gone tales

Red Sunset

sky at smoky ridge
lined with trees like ghosts
watched silently
trails remembered then forgotten
in haste of Autumn
in search of Winter
covered now by white blankets
of snow
cold as the morning fog
no looking ahead
forever old
rusting away in dampness
frozen as the coming

Spring

thaws the old heart
to beat again
and rock the oaken swing
on porches of long ago
waiting for another

Summer

to show the way to slumber
and dreams
of days gone by
trails lost over time
at twilight
