I got out my paint brush
and on the palette
were the colors of life
You could paint any picture
if you wanted to
because the palette
was filled with
a lot of different hues
The canvas of my life
was blank when I was new
but now was streaked
with pictures
and different points of view
The one with dark purples
were painted
black and blue
The one with bright blues
were sunny
in orange sunny light
joyfully brushed stroked
I know some paintings
came to me
in dreams
of black and white
I know some mares
in violet
were night time
in silver starry ruse
they frightened me
and I betrayed the colors
and painted longings
misgivings of past deeds
The hardest one
was studded gold
and sprinkled sprightly
it blinded my sight
It lied to me
and misled reality
it painted grace
joy and loss
lifes story of love
The color I most feared
was one of black
the prince of palatte blues
I brushed the colors
in formless lines
cool abstractions appeared
The coldest winter
was white and gray
turning to green
and blossoming spring
and I painted summer too
then fall arrived
the beautiful browns
mixed in with yellow
and orange blue
I realized then
my palette was my life
on the soulful canvas
on which love survived
painted in passion
departed in sorrow
but colorful and true
Cool, CJ! :) As a newish watercolor artist, I can really "see" this piece!! You oughtta try a palette knife painting to add to this piece, I can almost see it...
