Outside My Window

I look outside my window
first thing every morning
instead of my mirror
I see beauty
in the window view
instead of a face
I see every day
when the razor
cuts the whiskers away
and my teeth are brushed
I smile and see my age

I look outside my window
for the young day
born anew
the sun rise or cloudy skies
the snow flakes spin
the rain drops drip
the wind blows trees
the green lawn
or the brown of fall
leaves yellow & brown
blanket the ground
or buds appear
in spring
I look outside my window
for my youth

I see in my mirror
it's disappeared
but in my heart I know
that outside lies anew
the here and now
I want to view
her beauty again
for just one minute
for just one day
I want to feel
like it's the first
day of my life

I want to feel cold
I want to feel hot
I want to feel alive
I want to breath

I look outside my window
I want to feel happy
I want to feel sad
I want to feel
if I look close enough
I might see my reflection
outside my window
in the recess of my mind

I look outside my window
