crossing colors flourish
dunes filled with thorns
cactus spiney mescalito
sage and saguro
cimmaron rose blooms
flow orange red hues
waterless river beds
dried ancient shards spread
range within waterless wind
currents shape stoney faces
chipped ancient forms incased
fossils dotted in clay
reddened by lost rains
hard baked by sun rays
crossed trails worn thin
tracks born on timeless days
always looking the same
pictures drawn upon walls
in colors now dim
washed together in wisdom
losing color and texture
following stars across skies
past but not forgotten
the landscape remains
time mirrors a mirage
changed and weathered
chalk marks tell tales
of long lost elements
disappearing now in earthen
dust devils spinning
silence the winds blow
moaning and whispering
