romance

A breeze, a branch, a tree,
a star, the moon, romance

a breeze blew cold
in my open window
when I closed it
I couldn’t touch the moon

the branch scratched
my window pane
I wished to let you in
but the trees had roots
too deep to move

I watched a star falling
a river of red light
followed it down
like our fiery love
now gone

I felt a raindrop
heard the dripping
in my heart, it showered
