Whirling like a spinning top
the winds blew a kaleidoscope
colors stirred and mixed
life’s a rip roaring roust about

Children played at awkward games
silly little laughing faces
playgrounds and school bells
sleep sweetly future dreams

Dancing softly with the rain
the sweat pearled and ran
spinning sprinklers, grass green
long hallways, yellowed walls

Angst of forbidden love
lost in the creases, recesses
minds boggled, books torn, broken
the hormones raged a storm

Weekends of dusky fields
snow drifting, minds slipping
icy in drips, come to grips
only the unrequited love

Parked on dirt roads
summer nights, full moon arose
drive in screens, back seat trysts
stealing kisses, copping feelings

Born to ride the loop de loop
embraced flesh, sexual fervor
jolted, jammed into a dusty lot
boiled up hot just to cool down

Love a little, get a jolt
steamy windows, foggy smoke
pop a top, gulp a shot
cruise on down dizzy block

Graduate into the real world
fragmented minds of forgotten youth
mid life crisis, aged olden ones
whirled, spinning, spun golden
