As I look into the night sky
I see a face
it’s the face of an old man
with a little boys eyes
Eyes of misty blue
the wisdom of star light
on a salt & pepper face
And the wrinkles around the face
accentuate the eyes which
catch a glint of sunshine in a smile
The disguise was a ruse
just before twilight
The sun sets and a boys
dreams begin and end
in the shadows of dusk
when the day is through
A life is finished
while one is born
I glanced into
the garden of delights
innocence and youth
sorrows and joys
in the boys eyes
After all an old man
has looked into the dark
The boy removes the mask
and in the mirror to his surprise
blue eyes reflect an old face
I believe I know who he is
until the moon rises and shines
like a sliver of a smile
It glows in the sky
as clouds drift by
Under the mountain-
