or purveyors of verse

of sayers and seers
are artists of love and truth

these artists & poets

on the street
paint & voice graffiti
with gigantic swirls & proclamations
the orbits of planetary travelers
these undecipherable fools

(the omniscient light)
of profane & abstract
artists of paint & verse

(these bohemians)
paint sculptures
with clay dyed with life
they play with the rock
profoundly delaying its decay

(the omniscient light)
the darkness betrayed
in black and white

when I was seventeen
I was a portrait of youth
in any event I brushed
the girls with big swirling strokes
of bravado and lust
drinking up the cherry passion

where time is warped
having been there before

I used words of youth
hip and rash
talking all sorts of trash
amidst the burning embers

of love and delight
secrets of longing

they now are poets
they now are painters
they color their worlds
with patterns of bold splashes

from the center of the universe

the artists of paint and verse
