Long Night

a long night begin
at twilight a moon arose
which no one could see
through the cloudy sky
where midnights’ mystery
hid the stars
flowing into a dark sea

the long night crawled
sleep arose
a dream spoke of silence
the only sound
was the stormy night
I felt like I could fly
just before the dawn
above the highest mountain
to an eagles peak

the long night arrived
a ship sailed
into my minds open portal
I flew into the clouds
where only angels reside
halfway to the sun
someone viewed land fall

the long night ended
the sun arose
days’ first light
which I could see
as I awoke
from the wonderful dream
waiting for tonight

Yes Dale, when we experience a wonderful dream the way you did, we always long for an expect another one. I know I am that way also now. Very sentimental poety. Those who are not so fortunate, can only dream that someday they will also have sweet dreams. Bill
