The night rules
and cold are the days
that chill our bones
The winter upon us
with the sun so far away

A gray sky
begins to fade
as a bright star
has shined down
to light our way
where we travel
towards the eastern horizon

The moonlight
over our shoulders
We ride in silence
to calm our nerves
awaiting day break

The night rules
as we move towards
the western horizon
The moon sets, stars fall
and the night is so long
