Blizzard in My Soul

I sit looking out the window
watching the snow fly by
The drops melting
like my world had done
I was on the outside
looking in
The flakes were days
and nights gone by
covering the ground
lie there my life

My past had melted
down into the cold
It’s sad yet beautiful
ashes to ashes
dust to dust

I sit watching the snow fly
coming back to rest
with the water below
beneath the cold, cold ground

I thought of my life
and how funny it was
A piece of ground
lie waiting for me
to join the melting snow

The drops falling
all around me
as I sit trying to capture it
The essence of my beginnings
The meaning of my endings
I looked into the mirror
and saw the man I had become
The tears slide down my face
A blizzard blows in my soul

Dale, this is so very sad and yet, I understand the deep thinking and the direction it is taking. Wonderfully written and very brilliantly delivered. ;) Silver

incredible treatment of a subject we like to avoid, this is splendid writing really stirs the emotions Dale...Like Paul I have a living will and all arrangements made, I think it's the wise thing to do, get it over with and forget it.;-)I feel very good about having done it!

It's a sad piece Dale. Even though you are not in your twilight years, but you have described the feelings so well.

Brilliant write indeed! Well-expressed.

Dale, this touches very deeply as I'm approaching my 57th B'day and have just made my final arrangements. Hopefully I won't need them for quite a while, but time and life sure get one thinking. It is scary to know that the next, possibly 20 years, may go by as fast as the first 57. Very eye opening and soul searching.
