This is not a Pity Party or bragging peom.
Just something I felt like writing.
Me
Just a few years ago, I was pretty and thin.
I got a lot of looks from men.
It must have been my smile
that made them stop to look for a while.
Now a few years later I am older and fat.
But I guess I am still where it is at.
I still get looks from men,
just like I did way back when.
It must still be my smile
that still makes them stop and look for a while.
I don’t feel as good about myself.
I feel like I am sitting on a dusty shelf.
I know a few wrinkles and a little fat
shouldn’t make me feel like that.
That’s what society does to us.
Why do they make such a fuss?
Aging is beautiful, you see,
because I have survived cancer
twice and I am now free.
Every day is a blessing for me.
Nothing is perfect and they should see
that I am the same inside as I used to be.
Men still stop and look for a while.
I guess it must still be my smile.
I am still the same ole me.
The same ole me I used to be.
Join me as we travel together on the road called "Aging." I will be sharing my personal experiences with you and offer ideas on how we can better navigate the complex byways of our older years. Grief, healing, generations, ancestors, and more.
