When someone you love suffers a stroke or has Alzheimer's Disease, you sadly begin the Long Good-bye

" I miss you!", she whispered, to his blank stare,
His body was present, but his mind wasn't there.
He now dwells in Neverland,
He's a child that once was her man.
They are now experiencing The Long Good-bye,
The sadness is painful, it makes her cry.
He is broken and will not mend,
She is a captive willow, caught in the wind.
She is keeping promises, made long ago,
The task is so hard, but she loves him so.
When at last he takes his final breath,
She has kept the promise, she has done her best.
