Why should we hide feelings for one another as if they are a dirty little secret.

I have feelings for you! Why can't this be said?
Why should feelings cause so much dread.
We become too afraid to let feelings be known,
Will rejection be the reward if feelings are shown?
Children are allowed to blurt feelings out,
Honesty is what they are all about.
Adults prefer innuendo's waltz,
To just hint at feelings, so nothing is lost.
You offhandedly slip a feeling in,
If taken wrong you can claim it in jest, just pretend.
Were you serious, or just at play?
Just what did you really say?
Since when is declaring care a misguided deed?
After all affection is what we all crave and need.
Should affecrion and caring be stiffled before it blooms?
Should they be hidden and kept entombed?
Having the freedom to share a fantasy,
To let your thoughts run wild and free.
To say whatever you will,
To have someone understand and like you still.
Between man and woman, there is sadly a gap,
Different body parts are a social trap.
We should enjoy the difference, but not let it deter,
A chance for a bonding between him and her.
Take your feelings to a new high,
Then share them with a gal or guy.
