I will never be your SURE THING, there will always be a doubt
Don't grasp me, let your touch be light,
Don't try to bind me, or hold me too tight.
You must set me free and see if back to you I'll fly,
You don't own me, so be prepared to tell me good-bye.
Don't need me, want me, I am not a blanket of security,
You can't possess me, for I belong to me.
Don't take me for granted, assuming that I will stay,
When I become too familiar, I'll go away.
I will never be a sure thing, there will always be doubt,
I will always be the mystery you can't figure out.
I am never commonplace, always aloof,
I am evasive, if you demand proof.
I am a maverick, who wants no brand,
I am as stable as the shifting sand.
I will always be just out of touch,
The treasure you quest for and want so much.
One doesn't own the fruit, just eat it and enjoy the sweet taste.
