Pretty Lies

He told me what I wanted and needed to hear, Pretty lies.

While looking into my eyes, he lied to my face,
He broke my heart and vanished without a trace.
Why he ardently wooed me, I don't know,
He stripped me of my heart's armor, then wounded me so.
I opened up to him like a flower embracing the sun,
He championed for my heart and sadly he won.
Why did he dig for buried treasure, when he didn't value the prize,
He offered me a staircase to paradise, composed of pretty lies.
Why did he destroy a heart that only wished to love,
Why did he break the wings of a gentle dove.
Why did he claim a heart, just to cast it in the dust,
Why was he a thief and robbed me of my trust.
His wooing was for sport, only a game,
His target was my heart and he took aim.
He used pretty lies, a cruel ploy,
His mission was accomplished, seek and destroy.

Unfortunatly, the romantics offer love and expect to have it returned without stopping to wonder if what is being said is the truth or lies. We believe in love and if two romantics come together it is usually bliss, however if one romantic comes together with a player the result is pain and hurt. Sad but all too real write SC.

Sometimes people believe "pretty lies" because they want to.....but the ending is never a happy one. Very well written, PA. Lydi**

Once again you've expressed something we've all seen. Put together in vivid poetic words as you always do. Must be time for Tarzan to swing in and distract you. -Tom

There exist many who are but a Life support system for their lower half - Honesty about intentions is skewed -The mission was simple & lacked destruction -You got a new look at depth for yourself & others for the future -{Clearly written} -Love{* <Ted>*}
