He is adored and lusted after by all women, I am his wife and live in Hell.
It would be so easy to get immersed in things,
Be swayed by the feel of satin and the glitter of diamond rings.
The notoriety of being Mrs. Charming, pales to compare,
Though I hold his arm, I am got really there.
People's eyes bearly see,
I am but a faceless entity,
I have been pushed aside, no one sees me.
Sometimes, out of the limelight, he realizes that I am there,
When he needs a warm body and someone who really cares.
At these times I am allowed to cling like a vine,
For these brief treasured moments, he is mine.
I know many women would kill to be in my place,
But my bed is cold, his side of it is an empty space.
Oh Yes, all that glitters is not gold,
I just want a man to have and to hold.
I have started drinking too much, to dull my pain,
Wondering who's bed he shares each night is driving me insane.
I wish I could hate him , but I adore him instead,
I have decided to leave him many times, but always end up back in his bed.
I live in my private Hell and have decided to end it all,
I have just taken a bottle of sleeping pills, downed with a bottle of alcohol.
Oh SC, I can feel the pain, yes I have been there too but there are brighter days ahead and there is someone out there deserving of real love and who is willing to share a life and be proud of it, No one should stay in a relationship that makes them feel this way. There is always a friend to help lead you in the right direction.
I pray this is fictional, but have a feeling it's not: a horror realized by far too many. You may have saved lives with the message to get out of abusive relationships: good on you.
You captured well the pain and sorrow that a love/hate relationship generates and why so many stay in these types of relationships and yes end up finding the only answer is no answer. I lived this type of situation many years ago and barely survived...but survive I did and went on to find love, success and even the ability to reach out and help others because of what I had been through. I also learned many years later that this one I was prepared to die for ended up unhappy and frustrated with life and I smiled and walked away when she asked if we could try again.
I understand your pain and frustrations because I have seen wives of your situation who are married to Mr. Charm. Sad but be strong, divert all his charm towards the betterment of your relationship
NO you ARE to FILLED with LIFE{this must be for others} <>This will indeed show despair out there & how ugly it could get - So I will hope for this to aid those during such times - love * <Ted>
Sc this is certainly a troubling write, not just due to the ambivalence clearly expressed but the horid shocking ending.
I hope this is just another of your fantasy writes, most disturbing
