Most people blow off a food allergy, but for some prople it can be a knock on heaven's door.

For many years, she had tried,
To honor a vow, as she slowly died inside.
Her husband wanted her to be married to a house,
To keep her mouth shut, obey and be a dutiful spouse.
She had been a child when her Mama gave her to this man,
He still controls her to this day, because he can.
He always wears the white hat of a hero,
He holds a paper that says she is not allowed to go.
As he looks down on her from his pedestal,
He finds her unworthy, unattractive and oh so dull!
He belittles her every chance he gets,
He is cruel at the drop of a hat, with no regrets.
A preacher once warned her,"If you marry him you will seal your doom!"
Her Mama gave her no choice, so she married and became entombed.
The children she gave him feels about her like their Dad,
So she daily exists and is always treated bad.
She has an allergy to peppers, the deadly kind,
Eating peppers could take her out and make her leave the world behind.
Peppers will close her throat and steal her breath,
Without any help it could her death.
Like a needy puppy she had always begged for a kind word, or gentle touch,
While he gave her an icy glare and denied what she needed so much.
Then by accident she found a gentle man,
Who found her worthy of love, listened to her and seemed to understand.
Suddenly her Warden noticed she became aloof,
He felt that she loved another, but had no proof.
She had began to talk for hours on the telephone,
She quietly haunted their house and stayed alone.
Did some other man now own her heart,
Was she silently grieving because the man she loves and she must remain apart?
He wondered, what man in his right mind would want his property,
The Warden didn't want her, but he would never set her free.
So he bought her a salad, loaded with peppers, hidden from sight,
He hoped that the peppers would do the trick and she would be dead by night.
As he handed her the salad he said," This is a treat from me to you!"
" It will prove to you my Darling, my love for you is true !"

to be captured by someone monsterous, and to be destroyed. is very very sad how someone could do that to another.
i have been there, and have suffered, to love another, and trust again, is frightening, .... you make me sad... but my wounds still feel. and i do still hurt..

While I have no known food allergies, the rest of the poem sounds like my life with my ex-husband. Thankfully, I finally had the courage to leave - which wasn't easy because I had no confidence. Finally, I opened my eyes and truly trusted God to take care of me. Always knew He'd take care of me, but was afraid. Fear can melt the strongest resolve.

The male in this poem - take him out and shoot him!

Excellent write, SC; well done! BRAVA!

You are so right: food allergies are nothing to be taken lightly; one of my characters (Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux) has a serious allergy to nuts; they can make her very sick if she has any nuts.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Li'l Twister. :D *ow* Sneezed; never sneeze with a sore back! *OW* LOL
