Loving a Shadow Child is a very difficult thing to do, but when you win their trust their love is deep and worth your effort.

Shadow Children have trust issues, as to who they will let in,
They have been hurt so badly, they don't know who is an enemy and who is a friend.
Trying to love a Shadow Child is difficult at best,
They are so fearful of being wounded, they continually test.
Inside their lonely fortress, loyalty and love waits,
You must have endurance and sreadfast patience to be their mate.
They are encased in a black cloud, tears rain as they cry,
On their blackest mood days, they just want to die.
Please don't judge them harshly, they are prisoners in a world of pain,
They fight daily, just to remain sane.
It would be easier for you to just throw up your hands and walk away,
Leave them in their wretchedness, alone in their prison to stay.
They pray for a kind soul to come and rescue them and unlock the prison's door,
Someone to care and love them and let them be someone, that someone adores.
