It is Christmas everywhere, but not in my heart. You are gone and have taken the joy of Christmas with you.

My calendar says that it is the holiday season,
But I have no spirit, for me there is no reason.
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care,
The Christmas tree is lovely, but all I see is your empty chair.
I sit recalling another Christmas and happier years,
The snow is falling and so are my tears.
My Christmas is blue and my sorrow is deep,
When others deck the halls, I sit and weep.
I submerge myself in tradition, but no peace do I find,
There is no solace for me, to ease my troubled mind.
While making suger cookies, my tears fall into the dough,
I just can't stop crying because I miss you so.
I try to sing Christmas carols, but tears muffle my voice,
I hate this endless depression, but I have no choice.
Your voice still adorns our answering machine,
When the phone rings and I hear your voice, I want to scream.
I've lost some friends, for a lone woman is no social date,
Women now class me a predator on the hunt for a mate.
In my constant quest to get merry,
I drown myself in bottles of sherry.
Maybe next Christmas, my Christmas wish will come true ,
That when Christmas rolls around again, I will have joined you.
