As my face presses against the window, I watch the trees change hue,
I feel the pain of Autumn, another year without you.
It's been said, Time heals wounds, but my wounds still bleed,
My heart is stubborn and sill believes that you are what I need.
Friends say move on, forget you, but I feel your loss to my core,
Foolish pride makes me believe that you will once again enter my door.
Autumn, when things change, with falling leaves,
I mourn love's death. silently weep and my heart grieves.
As I feel the pain of Autumn and I view the loss of the tree,
I face the stark reality, that you have forgotten me.

Beautifully expressed and the colour images in this poem wrap around the reader and hold them from beginning to end.

The red colors of Autumn are the bleeding of the season ignored by people too busy with Summer to see the Winter's dagger...

The pain is as obvious as if I'd just cut my finger with a knife. True it heals, but the scars ... well, they are always there to remind us of a long gone beauty. As with all cycles of nature, one day you will realize the spring of romance and the blossoming of love.

God bless you. Kathy

SC, you express the eternal longing and loss within all of us, each Autumn the harbinger of death. I used to feel it, too, when I lived where there was Autumn and saw the leaves come down, now I just remember, but I remember, too, the promises of Spring and the chance of a new start. Thank you, SC, you've just made my morning worthwhile.

Poignant poem of love unrequited, transported by the poignant strains of a sad old favorite song.

You have very effectively shared the mood and the sentiments that you feel, S.C. The music complements the poem as well. Thank you. Love and best wishes to you,

I've missed you, Sweet Comfort. As to the pain of autumn,
take heart. Who is to deny that love true will be born again
in 3 or 4 days, or thereabouts? I can sense these things. -gene.

Moved on maybe but not forgotten you, he will always remember your sweet and loving heart. If he truly left then someday he will realize what he lost. For his sake, I hope it isn't after you yourself moved on. God bless and keep you in his loving arms. Beautiful poem about the capacity of love. Love, Bonnie
